Settling Things
Parsley Gamgee
I have been reading the comments that different people have written over the last few years, and i have come to the following conclusions.
1, The 3 books were not written in conjunction with any religious book, however remote a conection can be made with a character.
2, The Balrog in the mines of Moria had "wings of darkness" and that is open to debate, so everyone will have their own opinion about it. I think that the film did the Balrog justice.
3, There has been a lot of debate regarding the absence of Tom Bombadil from the film, which is one of my favourite parts of the first book, however meeting tom and the barrow wight did not affect the passage of the ring. But the prologue at the begining regarding the downfall of Sauron was not in the Book, but it was in the Appendicesand in the fil at the start, therefore the swap from tom to the battle scene is a justified swap.
4, As much as i like the books, there are flaws in it, Live with it!! the book took 15 years to write and is in my estimation one of the best books written, so if something contrdicts another and if you cannot deal with it then get counciling!!! stop whining about it on this cool website!!
5, Arwen was only described for a few pages in the book, but PJ used the similar relationship the Beren & Luthien as a model with Aragorn and Arwen, upon my initial viewing of the film my thoughts were "they have made her into a Xena type warrior Princess" but after hearing PJ'S thoughts it makes sense.
6, Lastly If the book was made directly into a film it would be in the region of about 18 hours Appx (dont quote me on that one), it would be very boring and there would be a leaflet handed to the non readers of the book to refer to at the start of each chapter explaining each scene!!!
The moral of this letter is this, The film as been made, the book was written a long time ago, they are different, yes they are!!! DEAL WITH IT!!!
P.S. FOR THE SHIRE!!!!
