Weaving, Eagles, Bombadil and Essay
Diana
In movies I just see the characters the actors and actresses they play and try to enjoy it. Besides, I'm bad at names and faces, so I wouldn't be able to tell who's playing who. I didn't even know Weaving was playing Elrond until I saw the credits and read about it on the internet.
Renee, that's a good question. I guess Tolkien needed something for an adventure story. Maybe there was another evil in the air that wasn't mentioned, or were the Eagles just not available at that time?
I wasn't really paying attention to the order of origin of creatures until the issue of Bombadil and Ents came up. I don't think it really matters who was first as long as we enjoy the story. In another website, there was a quote by Tolkien, saying that Bombadil was to remain a mystery. Many stories have mysteries, and so does life.
Brett, when did you submit your essay? Sometimes, an essay doesn't get posted right away. For example, my first 2 ("Good Personalities" and "Agreements") were posted the day after I submitted them while my 3rd ("King Arthur and Trailer") wasn't posted until 3 days after submission. Also, messages and essays get lost over the internet, or overlooked. You could contact the Webmaster of this site.
