Anduril in Return of the King
Andrew

In regards to Brett C. I just want to say that I am confident that Peter Jackson has come up with a plan for Narsil/Anduril. Here's what I think it is. At the beginning of the trilogy, we see Isildur use Narsil to defeat Sauron. Now Peter Jackson has already told us that Sauron will make a return in the final film, even though it probably won't be a big one. "We can't reduce him to being a man walking around in black armour, but we can't restrict him to just a flaming eye either." is exactly what he said.
So here's what I think will happen:
Aragorn will recieve Anduril in Minas Tirith, just before he goes to Mordor for the final battle of the trilogy. My guess is that either Arwen or Elrond will give it to him.
He will not use this sword in battle, he will carry it with him and use his normal sword. Until Sauron (in whatever form he'll be in) will appear on the battle plain. at this point Aragorn will draw Anduril, and Sauron will probably recognize it as the sword that was his downfall, being carried by the heir of the man who was his downfall.
I don't have any guesses as to what will happen next. Maybe this is the time when Gollum will fall into Mount Doom, or maybe Aragorn might even have something of a battle with Sauron...
Whatever Peter Jackson has in store for us, I'm sure it's going to be awesome!
