Gil-galad in the Movie?
Telpefion
First, I'd like to tell you how much I appreciate the conversation in this forum. I just read Danny's fantastic essay about Bombadil. Keep up the good work.
I'm a Tolkien fan. A person who has read LOTR, The Hobbit, The Silmarillion and The Book of Unfinished Tales. So you may say I know a lot about all things Tolkien.
But I still need to get a simple question answered: Where in the movie can you see Gil-Galad? In the end credits, it says that he is indeed played by an actor, although I haven't noticed him while watching the movie. Is he one of the three elves who get the Three Rings? In the film, I see Galadriel, a very old elf (who I think is Cirdan) and a third. Is that Gil-Galad?
Or is he in the beginning, at the Battle of Dagorlad? A friend of mine said, that he saw Gil-Galad in the fighting sequence, just before Thauron joined the battle. My friend told me that he recognized Gil-Galad because of his spear, Aiglos.
I'd very much like to know where in the movie Gil-Galad is. He is one of favorite Tolkien characters. I just got the FOTR: Extended Version VHS, so I'll be able to check it out.
"Nelde vener cordalyel nandoli."
I hope it is correctly spelled.=)
