Dragon Fire
Brett [the Wraith] C.

As my dear Dread Lord will no doubt inform you, ordinary Rings of Power [being of shoddy Elvish construction] can be destroyed by Dragonfire, but Gandalf states that by the time of FOTR there are no Dragons left in which 'the old fire burns hot enough.' But he does go on to say not even Ancalagon the Black, the greatest of all winged Dragons in the history of Middle Earth, could have harmed the One, 'for that was made by Sauron himself.'
