Upon Further Reflection... First Viewing of TTT
Applegate

The Two Towers was, I must say, impressive. After seeing the film for the fist time this afternoon, I was as amazed as everyone else by the Ents, Gollum, and Helm's Deep. Rah rah for Peter Jackson.

However, I must say I was disappointed with some aspects (gasp!). One, PJ must be obsessed with the Elves because he manages to stick them in everywhere. I practically fell asleep during the twenty minutes or so of Elrond and Arwen rambling about their departure from Middle Earth. Maybe it's of benefit to those who haven't read the books, but it gums up the works.

Naturally I was very upset over the portrail of Faramir (not the actor himself). They messed him up. Eomer was pretty bad as well. Not the actor (bravo for him), but the little amount of attention he got (it was all given to them Elves-go figure).

The movie was well done in almost all other areas, though. It was beautifully shot and the pace was pretty good (except when they stick those Elves in-not Legolas of course-he's important). Gollum was close to perfect. The Ents were cool but boring, and Aragorn's fake death thing was well, STUPID (they were able to develope the characters a wee bit, I suppose that was good).

To conclude, I thought the movie had some major issues, which most fans manage to ice over (I can't see how). Upon further reflection after the movie, however, I think I'll find a way to go back and see a few more times. After all, it was a smashing job.
