About Arwen and Tom
Narya

The absence of Tom Bombadil didn't make me unhappy. I apologize to all fans of the novel, but Tom is not my favourite character. It was inevitable that some parts of the book must be expelled from the film - if I had to chose it would be Tom Bombadil. Some other details miss me more: first is the dream that Boromir and Faramir have had, the dream which brought Boromir to Rivendell and the second is the scene when Galadriel gives her gifts to the members of the fellowship. Of course I would love to see every page of the novel transferred on the big screen but let us be realistic- it is not possible.Just imagine those poor people who didn't read the book how confused they could be with the hundreds of names, places and events ( one of my friends still believes that Aragorn and Boromir are brothers ).
On the otherside, greater appearance of Arwen in the film was right thing - Peter Jackson did what the novel didn't - he made Arwen alive. She is as important as any other member of the fellowship, to me even more - she is the inspiration of my favourite character from the book, Aragorn, but now she isn't just his dream and longing - she is real, suffering because of her love and fighting for it. This elf-lady deseves more space than just few words in "Fellowship of the Ring" and last chapters of "Return of the King".For the end I must say that Liv was also great in her role.
