The Question of Faramir
Joe T.

I agree that the Faramir scenes were confusing. While I enjoyed the peak at Osgiliath, I'm not sure why the change was made to Faramir's character. Foreshadowing trouble in Minas Tirith could more easily have been done using Faramir's second in command. In all Tolkien's work, his heroic characters are those who feel love and pity. Faramir is one such and is rewarded with love.

The sour taste I got from the scene might be laid to David Wenham. Does anyone know his previous work? Could he be a bad actor? Badly directed? If someone like Jake Gyllenhaal had played Faramir, would it have been more palatable?
