How Will It All Finish?

I've just finished the Lord of The Rings complete volumes for the 4th time and again had a lump in my throat as Frodo sailed away leaving Sam, Merry and Pippin. I hope that the film is true to the story and sees the book out to the proper end and doesn't finish with the destruction of the ring and Aragon becoming king. If this happens regardless of how well the films are made I'll be left feeling that its all been a waste of time.
