February 12, 2003 Wormtongue I believe that Wormtongue shedding that tear does signify him realizing what he's done. I mean you hear him say right before that 'There is no power like that'. And to see it right in front of him makes him realize what he's doing to Rohan. What he's led Saruman to do. I think this is terrific foreshadowing to Saruman's death, which I believe Peter jackson will remain faithful to and have Wormtongue slash his throat. However, this will probably take place after the Voice of Saruman scene after Saruman's staff is broken. Seeing Womrtongue cry at Saruman sending that army to kill the people of Rohan is definitly a symbol of realisation. |
