Two Things About TTT
Derin Lorecryer
Two Things: First of all:
Yes! For the final time the "scouring of the shire" is being cut from ROTK, why? I believe, the same way I thought when I read the book is that the last few chapters named so...distract and take away from the entire story of the 3 books, the reason why the trilogy is called "Lord of the Rings" is because it is focused on the epic of retsraining and detsroying the ring, once that is done, a small finality should be added of course but not another two chapters, and I commend and support Peter Jackson for his decision.
Second of all, I agree with everyone with the thought that is was mistake to change Farmirt's character! I can let most everythign else in the movie roll off my back (except for how the Ents were portrayed). The reason why I was so upset at this is because in the books I felt as if Faramir was in some ways opposite of his brother Boromir, (which led to the further explanation of why their father played "favorites". While Boromir was weak in his resistance to the temptation of the ring, his brother was not, it seemed as if Tolkien was trying to point out that Aragorn was not one man in the middle of an opcean fighting a struggling war over the temptation of the ring itself! That there were a few of the race of men that still had the morals, and character needed to resist the temptation. If you have any comments that might clear up anything that you see I might've been musguided in I highly appreciate it, thanks!
