Why Change?
Sara

King Theoden possessed by Saruman? That wasn't in the book. Sure, he was under his influence by Wormtoung, and there was some enchanting going on, but Saruman never possessed him. There was absolutly no reason for Gandalf to perform an exorcism in the movie. I was just waiting for Theoden's head to spin around and spew vomit. As for Faramir, don't get me started. They changed the very nature of his character and made him no better than his greedy brother. The minute he found out Frodo had the ring he rejected it--never for a second did he want to take it. He helped Frodo--he never took him to Gondor. What was achieved by this? Why did they change it? There was no reason for it.
