Response to Andrew
Mithril Miner

Dear Andrew:

I have to disagree with your comment on the Treebeard and the smoke rising from Isengard. He said himself IN THE MOVIE that "there is always smoke rising from Isengard these days."

But as to the ents' decision about whether to attack or not, I must say that it is somewhat true to the book. Treebeard is definitely hasty, he did, after all, call the entmoot--that has not happened "for an age."

The ents can travel very fast, that is probably why they got there so fast--they had not gone all the way back to their home.

Treebeard's venerablilty was degraded in the film, and I myself don't think that was a good choice on PJ's part. However, I'm not going sit there all through the movie silently fuming about it and let it ruin my entire movie-going/enjoying experiece. After all, nobody up and walks out of Julius Caesar because Shakespeare was "unfaithful" to Brutus making him too stupid and naive.

The destruction of Isengard bit was AWESOME! I definitely think that (next to of course Gollum) the Ents and the destruction was the greatest thing in the film.

P.S. Is there a verb in Sindarin for "to be"?
