March 11, 2003 Response to Tom on Arwen When Arwen says that she chooses a mortal life it doesn't actually mean she will become mortal - it only means that she will spend her life with Aragorn as mortals do. However, since Arwen is of pure Elven blood (Elrond chose to be immortal and is thus considered a pure Elf), she doesn't have a choice like her father did. That's why in the second movie we see the scenes od Aragorn's burial and the weeping Arwen.
