The Account of Isildur
Andrew

In the first movie, when Gandalf goes to Minas Tirith and reads the scroll of Isildur, he says right at the beginning that it was written in "the year 3434 of the Second Age". If you look at the Appendix B, you can see that, while the Battle of Dagorlad took place in 3434, Isildur didn't in fact take the One Ring until 3441, when Sauron was overthrown. So if, in the movie, at the battle of Dagorlad, Sauron is overthrown, then this must have taken place in 3441, so how could Isildur have written that scroll in 3434, telling about the Ring?
