I may be wrong, but I remember Brego being the horse that Eomer gave him in the movie. I do know that I was watching with a moderately critical eye the first time, even though I am more willing than others to forgive mistakes. Anyway, I didn't notice anything wierd, and I am almost posative that it is because Brego was the Horse Eomer gives him, but it has been a few months since I saw it.

I remember noticing in FOTR that Gandalf left Orthanc without his stave, and it drove me nuts until I saw the special features where they showed the designs for his stave before and after showing that they did take that into account. I suspect that a detail like Brego coming in would be too loose an end for them to let slip. So I would be surprised if there is actually a loose end there.

One last thing about the date on Isuldur's account, It may not make exact sense with Tolkien's appendix, but then again the timing of the whole series was changed so I think that date issue is not really a big enough deal to worry about.
