TTT Reaction

I was really surprised when I started reading that so many “so called” JRR Tolkien fans had such a favorable reaction to the Two Towers movie. I’ve read The Hobbit, The Lord of the Rings, and The Simarillion and found them to be as about a perfect experience as I have ever had in life. With that in mind I would have to say the Fellowship was a phenomenal movie at least on DVD. Tragically I doubt that I will find the Two Towers to be as good on DVD. I saw it twice in the theater and was terribly disappointed. It’s obvious Peter Jackson quit being true to the spirit of the Lord of the Rings and sold out or started catering, if you will, to the average movie going fan and of course the average movie going fan has no real appreciation for Tolkien. I would suspect Peter Jackson does have a real appreciation for Tolkien but is simple chained down by greed and money. It is no wander Tolkien’s decedents didn’t endorse this project. They knew it was naive to think that anyone could remain true to the Tolkien’s work and try to make a profit.
