Re: Re: Be Grateful...
Andrew

To Undomiel, you say in your post that you haven't been GIVEN anything. Just what do you think Peter Jackson has done? He's only spent about seven years of his life, working and dreaming on this movie trilogy, and spending millions and millions of dollars on it, not to mention the labour and hard work put into making these movies, and the TOUGH, extremely HARD job of adapting the books! Do you think he has done all this, just so he can present it to the public and only be attacked for the things he changed?
In your review you speak of the good stuff you liked about the Two Towers, but for some reason, you still say that we have the right to criticize Peter Jackson for what he did. I'm sorry, but no we dont.
Not until you have taken seven years of your life, done all the work that Peter Jackson has done, and have made a better movie than those that he has made, do you have the right to criticize him. And you have been GIVEN these wonderful movies.
And you say that we, as CONSUMERS, have to PAY for these movies. Well, yeah. Just because you pay for something, doesn't mean you nessicarily have the right to be picky about every aspect of it. If you buy a house, and you happen not to like the bathrooms in it, does that mean that it is not worth buying??? You still like everything else about it, but it IS possible to live with the bathrooms you don't like.
If you truly believe that paying to see a movie, that you have decided to spend your money on, that that gives you the right to nitpick at it and criticize the makers of it, then maybe you shouldn't see movies anymore.
No matter what, no movies are perfect, and theres always going to be something you don't like about it, it is still entertaining, and gives you something to do for a few hours, and presents a wonderful story to you in a way that is interactive, fun and entertaining, then you've already gotten your moneys worth. When you buy your ticket to a movie, you're not buying the right to criticise and put down a movie.
You'll notice that professional critics NEVER insult a movie, they simply say what is wrong with it. Well, there are MANY people who have put up posts that are "attacking" Peter Jackson for the changes he made. And that is not a right of the public.
Sorry for the length of this post.
