Forgive and Count Down
Lilly

I understand why some people are so upset about the changes PJ made to TTT...I am kind of upset too. Faramir WASN'T a bad guy, Arwen DIDN'T have a huge part, a lot of Helm's Deep stuff was made up, Frodo and Sam never went to Osgiliath (at least, as far as I can remember). But I think PJ knew how upset the fans would be. When I first saw the movies I was FUMING and glaring angrily at the screen; until that is, until I heard these lines: FRODO: "I can't do this, Sam." SAM: "I know. It's all wrong. By rights, we shouldn't even be here." (at least, that's pretty much how it went). And then it struck me: They WEREN'T supposed to be there! I think that was PJ's way of apologizing for the changes...almost as if the characters were critisizing themselves for the liberties taken. Anyhow, I took it as an apology, and I've forgiven the changes; I hope you all take it that way and learn to move on too. (By the way, right after those lines mentioned above Sam went on to deliver the most perfectly moving monologue that completely dissolved any anger I had left. GO, SAM!!) And now, after having forgiven the movie, I plan on counting down to the DVD (and after that, TROTK) with complete satisfaction and not a bit of discontent.
