1. People do have the right to critisize PJ, they may be right or wrong but it IS their right. To say PJ "gave" 7 Years of his life to LOTR's and therefore can't be critisized is a bit much- I'm reasonably sure he doesn't struggle to pay his rent!!- Would you claim Saddam Hussien "Gave 25 Years of his life to Lead Iraq and is therefore beyond critiscism, or similar for any politician? 2. All the changes made have plus or minus points for instnce I hated Arwen rescuing Frodo in FOTR but understood why it was done even if I didn't agree with those reasons, however her inclusions in the TT were much better managed and essential to Aragorns character development for those who haven't read LOTR. 3. Don't be daft Pippin does NOT die on the Field of Cormallen- When Gimli Says He was making sure he was dead he's just voicing his Dwarvish slant on optomism/ Pessimism- If Gandalf or Aragorn can raise the dead why not revive all the casualties of Pelenor Field and march on Mordor with an extra few thousand troops??!!!!!
