Ents, Eagles and Yavanna
Tomas

Does anyone have information concerning ents and eagles.

I've got the impression that ents and eagles are very closely related. In "the silmarillion" (end of chapter 2 of Quenta silmarillion "of Aulë and Yavanna") it says that when the thought of Yavanna awakes she will summon spirits from afar. A couple of lines down Manwe says: "In the mountains the eagles shall house, and hear the voices who call upon us. But in the forests shall walk the Shepherds of the trees." Which means that the eagles answer Gandalf when he asks for aid from the Valar, he doesn't call to the eagles but to their masters.

Now what I wonder is these "spirits from afar" are they maia or something else?
