No, you're not totally off your rocker - yet. You may be slipping! :) That ending would fit in the movie though - I do agree. I'm just finishing re-reading the Two Towers now, and Sam really doesn't like him - You know? The thing that I really want to see - no offense to any Frodo or Elijah fans - is Gollum biting the finger off! It's very clever, and it mirrors Sauron's in a way. And now that you suggest that, I can see that more vividly in my mind than what actually happened in the story!!
