On Faramir and Earendil
Knotwise

First - on Faramir. I agree that PJ shouldn't have done that! Now we know that ROTK will be along different lines, too! But it said in the latest LOTR fanclub magazine that PJ and the others didn't feel that the ring had that much power in that part of the book - that its lull wasn't there - (which does kinda make sense)- and that none of them felt its power, and in the movie, they wanted the ring to be the main power point, ya know?
But what I say is - maybe someone as true in heart as Faramir really didn't want it - he knew about it and its power, and he just didn't care for it? He didn't want that power. THat's what I got out of the books. I may be wrong, though...
It's awfully hard to explain, but I hope you get the guist!

On the pronounciation of Earendil (I hope I spelled it right), the way I assumed it was to be said was like all other elvish in that way - it wouldn't sound like EAR or AIR, It would sound like "I", as in I - rendil, with just a little emphasis on the A, and a little 'roll' or something on the "r". (I can say it well enough, but it's hard to type it!!) If I can think of another way to put it, I'll post it.
