I Need Some Music Help

First: Anyone who has the TT soundtrack knows Gollum's Song, performed I believe by Emiliana Torrini. I know I'm not the only person to think that its haunting, eerie tune is perfect for Gollum, and that the words sound great with it. But on closer inspection I begin to wonder about the lyrics. From what point of view is "Gollum's Song" being sung? Who is it being sung to ("these tears you cry have come to late; take back the lies, the hurt, the blame...")? Am I expecting too much? Does anyone have the history behind "Gollum's Song"?

Also, my band director, as a favor to me, ordered the music to the FOTR for us to play. After playing it twice, he made us turn it in, much to my dissapointment. But even more to my dismay was that the music was nothing but a lame, watered-down medley that left out many of the music themes I had looked forward to. I'm not being ungrateful; I just want to know where I could get some real good sheet-music. I play the flute, but that's irrelevant: I can adapt it, I think. Does anyone know? I haven't been able to find any books or anything else online I could order.
