Harry Potter and Lord of the Rings
Andrew
I totally agree with the idea that Harry Potter has, to some degree, copied Lord of the Rings. I mean, think about it:
The books have wizards and trolls and goblins and a dark lord that nobody likes to name, as well as giant spiders and an old wizard with a long beard who tells a lot of exposition (Gandalf vs. Dumbledore).
But it doesn't just stop with the story. I mean, just look at how fast the Harry Potter movies are being made. It is almost like they found out that a Lord of the Rings trilogy was being made, hurried up to get the rights, get the movie made, and then release it right before Lord of the Rings is released, and take away all it's thunder! It just seems that way doesn't it?
Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone totally took Fellowship of the Ring's thunder, but I just love to see that Two Towers has blown Chamber of Secrets away. (but, of course, Chamber outdoes Fellowship...)
But it looks like they've realised the error of their ways, and cleared the way for Return of the King, since their isn't going to be another HP film until next summer. Go ROTK!!!
