Sorry, But I Am Loyal to Harry Potter

People who form opinions about books they haven't read disgust me, to be blunt. It is easy to judge the Harry Potter books based on the ridiculous marketing, the absurd hype.
Children today can better identify with and enjoy books about a modern 'wizard', with a modern setting. I am sick of the Lord of the Rings vs. Harry Potter arguments, because they are both excellent books in their own right and comments describing HP as a 'kid-story' simply insults the millions of children and adults who love the books.
Can anyone argue with that?
