Well, I knew that someone would write about that post.
I know that alot of the similarities between HP and LOTR can be excused in one way or another. I was simply noticing a few things that seem to be similar (some more vague than others) between the two stories, and in no way was I intending to make the similarities "official".
But there are a few things that would like to just clear up. First of all, with the troll scenes being in both movies, and things being different in the movie, compared to the book, it can be hard to keep track of what exactly WAS in the book. But even still, with the movies, as I have said before: It seems to me that, considering production began on Lord of the Rings sometime around 1995, or 96 (at least the scriptwriting and such) it seems that the people who are responsible for the HP movies heard that this production was being made, got the rights to the movies from J.K. Rowling as fast as they could, and threw together a very quickly made film with bad acting and even worse visual effects, and released it right before Lord of the Rings was released, and (somehow, don't ask me how) took all its thunder, and made more money than it.
I say again, how did that happen? I mean, it would make more sense for me for the filmmakers to spend more time on the movies, and have a better product, than to do the pre-production, production and post-production in less than a year, just to release it as soon as they could.
It just looks a little fishy to me.
Oh well.
I think it's time to put this HP and LOTR controversy to rest. We can just be glad that LOTR has finally been well-adapted to the screen, and the product was worth the wait.
Now lets kick HP's ass with ROTK!!!!
