RotK Changes?
G
Following the changes made to the Fellowship and Towers books for the film versions, I was wondering what those of you who have read the book thought might be taken out or added in for the RotK movie. (Anyone who has not read RotK and does not want the plot spoiled should probably stop reading now.)
I am aware that the scouring of the shire is going to disappear altogether (and I am NOT happy about it) and I'm guessing that the Aragorn / Arwen / Eowyn love triangle will be beefed up a bit but what else? Do you think that we will see what Aragorn and co. get up to between the Paths of the Dead and Minas Tirith? these adventures being only briefly described in the book and without them some central characters will disappear from the story for a large period of time. Personally I hope that this doesn't happen and that instead Merry and Pippin become the central characters in the Gondor part of the story as was the case in the book. I would also like to see Sam taking over from Frodo as the 'hero' character as happened in the book however I recognise the danger that there may be pressure on the filmmakers to turn Frodo into a Hollywood style hero who can do no wrong. I certainly hope not.
All in all I'll be happy just so long as the scenes in Mount Doom and the Grey Havens are left untouched but I'm interested to hear your opinions on all these matters. Hopefully it'll give you something else other than Harry Potter to talk about.
