Powerful Sauron
Greg H.

This is in response to Everett V's comment the other day on the "unmasked" Gandalf being more powerful than Sauron. Sauron was one of the more powerful Maiar anyway. But I understood that when he joined sides with Melkor, he granted Sauron power and authority to the point where Sauron was nearly as powerful as the Valar themself. This of course diminished Melkors power (and having so much hate for the world), though he was the most powerful of the Valar at the making of the world.
Of course, after having his physical form destroyed twice, (nearly three times by Huan and Luthian) Sauron power would be much reduced!
