RotK - Ring Situation

My theory after watching the Two Towers is that since Sauron knows where the Ring is the cofrintation between the Dark Lord and Pippin via the Plennater will be left out. The Nazgul saw the ring at Osgiliath, so through Sauron's eyes I think he will assume that the Hobbits are making their way for Minas Tirith, therefore the element of surprise will still be there when Frodo and Sam reach Mordor. Does this make sense?
