I have heard through a very unreliable source, though that unreliable source claims to have it from a good one that there will be a scouring of the shire, just not in the way we are thinking. According to this friend of mine, who is probably more into the movies than I am, he found information saying that the scouring of the Shire and the Gray Havens are going to be done kind of as a prologue with narration similar to the begining narration. If that is done well, I wouldn't have any problem with it. It could allow for the important parts of the plat IE Saruman's death, and the Scouring of the Shire to be included in their proper places. It would also work nicely to have the films begin with Galadriel's narration and end with it as well which would be a nice touch. Has anybody heard anything at all about this? I would have thought it would have been brought up if anyone knew about it. I personally think it would be a great idea because it would allow those items of the story to still be included.
