May 29, 2003 Fallen Valar Niphredil, it's just my opinion but Arwen could not go into the west because she was then considered to be joined to the human race. Perhaps I am wrong, but I felt it was a bit like the choice given to half elves, Elrond and Elros. As for the so called Valar holding grudges, yes they do, being consumed with hate and malice as they use their elvish minions to subjugate innocent humans everywhere. Their hordes swept through the world in the first age, countless dead. Alas for the highlands of Hithlum and the tall people of Dor-Lomin, the house of Hador. Hurin and his valiant son fought side by side with me on the plain of Tumhalad, where the flame of Glaurung no elf could withstand. We drove them back into their caves and freed all the enslaved. Men, women and children. Mourn the little ones, my friends, those who died before freedom could reach them. The tall dark Turin, stabbed in the back by the skulker Beleg. Later elvish propaganda would have us believe they were friends. It is a cruel elvish jest. Let none say I tell falsehoods! The histories are written by the victors. The truth of how Hurin fell guarding my back during the battle for Dorthonion, is lost. Indeed my beloved wife, was kidnapped by the robber Thingol, and her with child. It was I who encouraged her marriage to Beren. A marriage Thingol tried to stop. My lord Melkor even gave my beautiful daughter a simaril as a wedding gift. But again the histories have been twisted. Until later my friends :) Ash Nazg... |
