Arwen’s Mortality
Niphredil

Tomas, and Annatar, thanks for your views. An interesting statement that made by Elrond "That so long as I abide here, she shall live with the youth of the Eldar...and when I depart, she shall go with me, if she chooses". Which brings to mind another question. Why wouldn’t Elrond just hang around Middle Earth for another 120 years (like Legolas did) until Aragorn’s death, and then take Arwen (his only daughter) with him to the Undying Lands. Unless the Valar appoint the time for the Elves to leave Middle Earth. But I seem to remember reading that Elrond grew weary of Middle Earth and that’s why he left, so he chose when to go. So Arwen must have chosen to become mortal before that, when she married Aragorn I suppose. So I guess the rule is if you want to live with a mortal, you have to be a mortal.

Do Arwen’s kids get to choose if they are to be immortal or not, or are they considered of the Race of Men? Elrond and Elros got to choose.
