Gandalf vs Saurman

The reason Gandalf dos not defeat Saurman is because Saurman is the chief of the Istari. He is simply just more powerful than Gandalf is. When he reaches out and takes Gandalfs staff from his hand Saurman is clearly a tad bit more powerful than Gandalf is. However when Gandalf becomes Gandalf the White he is equaly as powerful as Saurman.
