Response to Pip
G
Pip, I'm sorry if you disagree with me here, but it is my opinion that although this discussion board is primarily centred around the movies, I don't see what is wrong with discussing the books, especially if we are helping each other gain a greater insight into Tolkien's work and therefore giving ourselves new perspectives from which to view the films.
I do not believe that reducing the number of posts talking about the book would see us talking more about the films anyway, because we don't really have very many new things to say about them and whenever we do get film news, I'm pretty sure we're all forgetting about the books straight away and putting it straight up.
Also, remember that it wasn't so long ago that we were all driving each other nuts with Harry Potter talk and what we've got ow is clearly a million times better than that.
And what's the problem if Lilly and I have a lot to say? I'd like to think it is of interest to most people and we're not forcing you to read it if you don't want to. I for one am only postin more than usual because I'm temporarily unable to walk and as soon as I've recovered and am able to get away from my computer I'm sure you'll be hearing a lot less from me. In the meantime, lets all try to stay friends.
G.
P.S. A lot of people seem to have very different ideas regarding the Halls of Mandos. It was always my opinion that the Elves went to the halls when they died whereas the men just died, no-one really knew what happened to them, save Illuvatar himself (I vaguely remember reading something about them joining the songs of the Valar for the second world). But then Beren went tot the halls didn't he? I've confused myself now. If anyone can clear this up, I'd love to hear it.
