June 3, 2003 No Offense Intended Greetings, Tolkien fans. There are many things that I wish to comment on. But, alas, there is no time and I cannot recollect them all at the moment. First, I would like to say that Rosie is dead at the time that Sam leaves for Eressea to be with Frodo (the isle east of Valinor, but is still considered part of Aman. Also the home of most of the Teleri.) Second, Finarfin is the king of the Vanyar, not the Noldor. Most likely, Elrond is now the High King of the Noldor, as I do not believe that Gil-galad had any heirs. But I could be wrong... Third, Aragorn does only have one son. His name is Eldarion. But he also has a great many daughters (there is no account that says specifically how many). Fourth, Elves AND Men go to the Halls of Mandos after they die. However, while Elves will be in the Second Music of Eru (I cannot recollect his entire name at the moment), it is unkown what the role of Men will be after the End. Furthermore, Elves are not reincarnated into their descendants. To even utter such a thing is blasphemous to everything Eru has created. Just because they have the same name does not mean they are the same person. Take the Man of Gondor named Mablung and the Elf of Doriath named Mablung. Different races, thousands of years apart, completely different people... Fifth, Gimli was allowed into Aman, because of his friendship with Legolas (the greatest friendship between the two races in recorded history) and for his friendship with Galadriel. There was a ban set upon Galadriel, forbidding her from returning to Aman, after the Great Battle at the end of the First Age. However, due to her part in the battle against Sauron, and most of all for her resisting the offering of the Ring of Power to her, she was granted pardon and allowed to come back. However, she gave up her spot and asked that Frodo go in her stead, and presumeably at the same time asking that Gimli be allowed entrance as well. This is all I have to say at this time, as it is rather late and I have many tasks ahead of me. Oh, wait, i have one last thing to say. Who is this person who claims to have fought alongside Hurin the Steadfast and Turin the Bane of Glaurung during the Nirnaeth Arnoediad? Because as I recollect, young Turin was but 8 years of age when his father set out to that battle.............. |
