The Council of Elrond and Stuff
Lem
I agree with Janelle that our beliefs will influence our writing and that LOTR was meant as an escape story. a lot of fiction books are.
i also agree with most people that the council of elrond scene could've been done better because only the main characters said anything, and the other people weren't named which was kind of odd.
i know it's kind of old, but i think one of the reasons the fellowship didn't fly to Mordor with the eagles is because they didn't know how/where to contact them. also it would've made the story a lot less exciting and shorter, too. plus remember the creatures that flew by when the fellowship was on Caradhras? wouldn't they eventually spot and "eliminate" the eagles and their riders?
i thought it rather annoying how every time he was confronted by an enemy Frodo would drop his sword and fall over (in the movie). also the hobbits and sometimes Gimli DID appear to be useless, especially with the cave monster that would've killed Frodo without the mithril coat. All Frodo did in the movie was shake Aragorn to help him.
I also agree that lothlorien was not done to satisfaction, it could've been done to look more inviting rather then so, well, evil. it was all right that it looked mysterious. but Celeborn said only one line, i think and he should've had a
much bigger part.
