Favorite Lines Caught in the Movie
Danny

I like the suggestion that we find out favorite lines in the book that pleased us most to see in film. There were a few, though some only made it in the extended DVD for Fellowship. We will have to see what comes from the extended of TTT.

Of course I was a litle worried at first when Frodo left the Shire without the talk with Gandalf where he said perhaps his most important lines in the whole trilogy about pity ruling the fate of many. (I don't have the book out). I was so pleased when I did see that and that it was worked in quite nicely in Moria.

I was so elated when they gave Eowyn her lines about fearing a cage and being locked up until all chance of honor and renown are gone. Those words define her character more than anything else she says and I was happy to see them put in. Sure they were at a different time but it worked very nicely.

In the extend DVD I love the talk of Bilbo's Mitrhil vest. I know it is a simple thing, but I was glad to have that dialogue back in. I also enjoyed the part where Gandalf gets angry and threatens to knock Peregrin Took's head against the door. It was good to have some of Gandalf's spark and temper in the movie again.

Those are the lines I was most delighted to see preserved that I remember off the top of my head anyway.
