Lilly, it's me. Don't go berserk.
Yes, I think that you did a pretty good job in explaining, but there were a few things that i disagree with.
#1: Yes, if an elf got ahold of the One Ring he would be turned evil. That's just the way it is. It doesn't matter if you're immortal or not. The ring makes people evil. Period.
#2: It may be just me, but I don't think that Sauron made ANY of the rings. He just controlled them. If memory serves me correctly, I think he merely learned the secrets of ring-making (by watching the elves make the rings of power) and then made One ring to control the others.
Those were my cheif beefs (hey! that rhymes :)!) with your explanation, but don't take my word for it. I could be(and probably am) completely wrong.
