Casting and Bad Guys
Paradox

Okay, this is my first time posting, and I am an absolute fanatic about Lord of the Rings. I'd say I fall midway between the revisionists and purists. Some of the changes I like, others, not so much.

So anyway here's my question: What was the best casting choice for the LOTR films? For me it has to be Sean Astin. When I heard he was playing Sam, I could not picture "that kid from Goonies" playing the loyal companion. He has done a marvelous job, and when he gives his little storybook speech at the end of The Two Towers, it really gets me. Christopher Lee and Viggo Mortinson (spelled right?) would be my other two choices. Any opinions?
