I've never posted one of these before, so I hope I'm not intruding.

I think that Harry Potter will always appeal to some people more than Lotr, and vice versa. I, as more of a Lord of the Rings fan, have no problems whatsoever with that. It's all a matter of opinion, and I don't think either LotR fans or HP fans really have the right to say "well, I didn't really like [name of book], so [name of book] is better."

In a nutshell (and this is my opinion)- both books are good (ok I haven't read HP, but JK Rowling must be doing *something* right to have books flying off the shelves like that), but whichever one is better is based on the readers opinion, and is not hard fact.
