G, that's a good script outline you gave.
On the misunderstood bit, I agree. I too want to see ALL of ROtK (+ the missing bit at end of TTT)covered in the last movie, but I agree thet will have to chop significant storylines out of there to achieve it in a 3 hour movie.And yes, I want to see 45mins minimum of Pelenor (it's got to be seen to be the major Battle - not Helms Deep), Battle of Black Gate can be much shorter (10 mins).

A few additions for the list:

8.1 - Aragorn & Eomer's parting and the promise of re-union by Aragorn (".. though all the hosts of Mordor stand between...")

17.1 - The battle of Pelargir (even in flashback)

21.1 - The journey of the host from Gondor to the Black Gate, they have to do some of it, ca'nt just ride off-camera in one shot & appear before the Gate in the next.

32.1 - The long wait before the wedding, can they skip it? (Aragorn finding the sapling of the one Tree / Eomer's return to Rohan & returning for the body of Theoden , Ellodan & Elrohir's return to Rivendell & eventual return with Elrond, Arwen & co , etc... etc...)

I am sure PJ & co will deliver something wonderful to us, as they have done so far. I just love the anticipation/debate/time-filling we do here while we are waiting.
