We Shall See...
Imlar
By the time this is posted, I hope the HP vs. LOTR debate will be well over...that discussion never seems to go very far, so let's keep our conversation moving, and try not to keep going back to that! All I'll say is that TIME WILL TELL...LOTR has been around for 50 some odd years, and has been surviving, now THRIVING (because of the movie) So...none of us can make a sound judgement right now, because what marks a good book, I believe, is it's timelessness. So yup..time will tell.
For my favourite performance, I think the entire cast did an amazing job, but I too believe McKellen gave us a brilliant performance of Gandalf. I also think Lee did an amazing job for Saruman, couldn't have been much better!
As for ROTK, I hope they push the time limit as much as they can, because, as you've all said, 3h is too short a time. I'm really looking forward to Shelob, but especially Minas Tirith. The first half of Book III was what enchanted me the most...I read it again and again and again. The whole Minas Tirith part will have to be pretty long, and I'm sure it will be breathtaking. Let's just hope Jackson organizes his puny 3h or so good, and doesn't add too many more time-consuming changes!!!Up till now, the weakness and frailety of men has been extremely present (Elronds complaining, Aragorn's being afraid to be what he truely is, Boromir's failing...need I mention Faramir?) So, I really hope that the GLORY, and the honour of the fighting warriors of Gondor will be demonstrated (men like Beregond who were loyal and proud) .. and it will with Aragorn returning as king, im sure.So anyway, enough out of me!
May the blessing of Elves follow you all!
