Frodo_lives, you are dead right on The Scouring of the Shire. Without this scene I don't think the ending can possibly satisfy me, mainly because the journey of Merry and Pippin (Merry being my favourite character in the book and Pippin not too far behind) cannot be fully completed. These are characters that Jackson has pretty much overlooked so far (although I loved the little look and nod of understanding between Merry and Frodo at Parth Galen in the (extended?) Fellowship).

Also, good call on Ian Holm. I find it hard to believe he has been overlooked in all this talk of casting and he is up there with John Rhys-Davies and Viggo Mortensen in my opinion. What do you all think of Sean Bean as Boromir? I haven't heard his name yet either.

Finally, a quick thankyou to Tiniowien and her fellow Potter fans out there for not letting another silly Harry Potter debate get out of hand. When I said I wanted people to stop talking about Potter though, I really did mean everyone, not just those in support of Potter and there have been far too many posts with the likes of "By the way, Potter sucks and LotR rules." Lets just have an end to the discussion alltogether (you will note I have just written a full paragraph on the matter without even being tempted to give my opinion of which is "better."
