Boromir: Movie vs. Book

I have to disagree with Lem's comments regarding Boromir. I came away from the movie with a much more compassionate view of Boromir than I ever received through reading the books. I was prepared to dislike Boromir in the movie as much as I disliked him in the book, but found myself hoping at the end of the movie that somehow he would find a way to live. In my opinion in the book he was extremely arrogant, only concerned about himself and the glory of Gondor - but he came across as very human in the movie, and I felt sympathy for him.
