This Place Looks Strangely Familiar...
Lilly

I return! I don't expect I was entirely missed by you all, but I can assure you I missed YOU all very, very much. I've been on LOTR withdrawal! I was on a family vacation...and after a collective two days riding in a van with my family, and seven days of seeing everything but what I wanted to see, I come back home with nothing but the comfort of home and the joy of being back in the forum (I also discovered on my trip that if you say the name "Nicholas" in a variety of accents it sounds kind of like "Legolas", and that made me happy).

I've missed a lot!! Of course you all would get to talk more while I'm not DOMINATING the forum (just kiddin'! I luv you, Pip!)

So, rather than being horribly unfashionably late and responding to everything old...here's something new:

who knows the geography of shelob's lair and cirith ungol..and...well, everything in that area?

I'm horrible at imagining places. Describe any face or item and I'm fine, but try to hit me with an event or a place and i'm a fish out of water (so you can imagine what a trial Helm's Deep was for me!). The movie helped that a lot, but, alas! Shelob's Lair didn't appear in the TT, so I'm still clueless.

Was Shelob's lair IN Cirith Ungol? Was CU in Mordor? What was the pass in relationship to these? What path did Sam take? Were there two different flights of stairs...where did it all lead to!?!

I love reading about what happens in these places, but I would enjoy them more if i could envision them better. As it is, I just think of the WHATS and try not to tax my brain with the WHERES.

I'm hoping you all could help. Whew. Sorry for my over-the-top excitement. It's really great to be home! No matter how boring they say the plains are, never, never believe it! It's such a relief to me to see prairie to the horizon after so many mountains!

Returnedly Yours.
