Re: Grima and Some Tidbits
Mithril Miner
This is another spoiler, just so you all know...
First off, thanks to everyone on the Grima thing. I wasn't sure if it was just me that felt that way, or not! As long as Grima kills Saruman himself, I will be pleased.
I don't think Grima was 100% evil, though. In the Scouring of the Shire, when Frodo tells Grima he can stay, Grima hesitates, and he might have stayed on with Frodo, but Saruman had to butt in with all that stuff about Lotho. Admittidly Grima killed Lotho, but it was partly out of fear of Saruman (his master) that he did. We never really find out if Grima was wholly evil or not, because of Saruman, but I always thought he did. And the movies are leaning more so to that idea than the books did.
As to Gimli's calling Legolas 'lad':
I think the reason PJ did this purposely (or allowed it to remain in the film) was because Legolas WAS young, for an elf. Gimli was relatively older, for a dwarf. Thus Gimli is able to pull off 'lad' without sounding completely stupid. Besides, Orlando Bloom does look young, and John Rhys-davies looks older in that mask.
