Legolas
G

Thanks to everyone who responded to my question regarding the age of Legolas, especially David Took, who seems to be a man after my own heart. The incident where Legolas knew what ther balrog was but no-one else did was something that was incredibly clear to me in the book but this aspect of his character has been almost completely absent from the films so far and I think they are the poorer for it.

This leads me onto another question. Excluding the characters who were deliberately changed for the films (Arwen and Faramir for example), which characters seemed to you to be closest to your visions of them from the book and which were furthest away? This is (I hope) different from the casting question in that it does not concern the quality of performance of the actors involved but rather the similarities (or lack of them) between yoiur own personal visions of the characters and those of Peter Jackson. Take Merry for example (I know I've mentioned this once or twice before but Merry is, as I have said, my favourite character). I think Dominic Monaghan was an excellent casting choice for Merry but I don't think the book Merry and the film Merry are the same by any stretch of the imagination.

And welcome back Lilly. You were missed and you shouldn't put yourself down.
G.
