Thanks for that website Tiniowien, it was interesting. I'm not sure that the calculations on Leggy's age constitute 'proof' as much as conjecture but it's all good fun, none the less. Proof would probably be his birth certificate or passport but unfortunately the Mirkwood office of Births, Marriages and Deaths is a bit overgrown lately. I think I will just say that David Took seems to have pulled off some interesting stuff concerned with the Balrog which makes a lot of sense to me. If Tolkien said that only the Elf knew what it was, I think that pretty much wraps things up.
