Extended Or Not Extended That Is...
Annatar
... the question.
Whether tis nobler to wait and buy the extended version and by buying it, be assured a more faithful version. A faithful version... perchance it falls short! Aye there's the rub!
Ok enough Shakespeare'esc stuff, the bard would murder me. Yeah if money is no question then buy both version (and send me a copy too, my address is...). For me, I'll await the extended version. FOTR Exnd was a vast improvement on a nigh perfect movie. One can only hope the same will be said of TTT.
For some reason TTT never grabbed me the same as the FOTR (cinema 4 times versus 8). Changes can be accepted to the storyline where it makes sense, alot of the changes in TTT was unwarrented. However I'm picky. It still is a great movie.
Scouring of the Shire is a massively important part of the story. It shows there is always a price to be paid to rid the world of evil. That nowhere is safe. That returning soldiers can feel themselves apart for the people at home, either they or their home has changed and they no longer fit in. It also does away with the honey sweet happily ever after endings that never happen, at least not for eveyone. Someone always has to sacrifice something. The chapter also points out another failing of the Valar. They sent another Maia to torment Middle-Earth! Why they never properly interviewed Saruman and all other potential Maia is belond me. A simple Q&A might have saved thousands of lives...
Q. What is your favourite colour?
A. White
Q. Would you say you have megalomaniacal tendences?
A. Yes... OOOoopps can I answer that question again??
Might have worked! You never know!
On another note I'd like to thank Danny, Man of the Westernesse (hope I got the name right. Fellow Donegal man, when are we playing Armagh?) and anyone else who thought and said my posts here were okay and a kinda cool. For if you prick me, do I not bleed? if you wrong me, shall I not make a powerful ring and do bad stuff? (for some reason that quote stuck in my mind and I couldn't shift it). Anyways, Love, Peace n Happiness... Under the Eye! :) Ash Nazg...
